Nakanoshima in Osaka is bursting with flowers and greenery

Osaka is known for its commercial areas with high rise buildings or tourist spots like Tsutenkaku and Abeno Harukas. The Nakanoshima area we will tell you about today used to be the center of Osaka’s economy. It is by the water, full of greenery, and home to many cultural properties. We will tell you about some walking spots in Nakanoshima. In spring, you can see roses blooming next to historical buildings.

Walk along the riverside at the biggest rose garden in Osaka, Nakanoshima Rose Garden

Nakanoshima is a small island in between two rivers, Dojima and Tosahori. Nakanoshima Park, located in the center of the island, is an oasis in a busy city. Nakanoshima Rose Garden, the largest rose garden in Osaka, is home to about 310 types of around 3,700 rose plants. Some roses are in bloom all year, but the best time is spring and fall. The roses that bloom in May are especially vibrant and stand out against the summer sky. On the path by the river (バラの小径), you can see a picturesque view of roses with the river. From the arched bridge (ばらぞの橋), you can see the colorful rose garden and the mighty Naniwabashi Bridge at the same time. There are so many great photo spots. Enjoy the colorful, beautiful roses and their sweet scents on your walk throughout the garden. It’s free to enter, so stop by whenever you feel like it.
