The Wine-colored Door is a Landmark. Let’s Take a Break in “Readin’ Writin’ BOOK STORE” with Good Coffee at Kuramae!
Kuramae area, which once flourished as a warehouse district, it’s a famous spot where great cafes and variety stores have been increasing. The bookstore “Readin’ Writin’BOOKSORE” is located near the place where such unique shops line up.
The appearance is wine-colored doors and glass windows. Its high ceiling is impressive inside of the shop, which remodeled a wood warehouse. The mezzanine floor in the back of the store is used as the gallery space while remaining a remnant of the warehouse. You can also relax on the tatami (Japanese floor mats).
The normal bookstore returns the unsold book to a publishing company, but this store buys books and sells them. Since the opening in 2017, he keeps writing down the lineup of books in his handwritten notes what he wants to buy and place an order for them. It also pays attention to these books not only adult books including social criticism but also for children with fun including picture books.
He is a former newspaper reporter and decided to work in a book store as lifework before his retirement. It’s a place where you can feel particular about ‘read and write’ as its store name suggests, such as opening his writing class in the store.
