Amazing Azalea Scenery, the Latest Cafe, and Specialty Eyeglasses in Sabae City

Sabae City is one of the “manufacturing towns” famous for its specialty eyeglasses, textiles, and lacquerware. This city offers a lot of natural beauty, leisure activities, and gourmet cuisine. It is an attractive destination for outings and trips. We are introducing a sightseeing route packed with Sabae’s charms, including the azalea viewing spots, the latest cafes perfect for a break, and an eyeglass-themed museum.

The best time to visit! “Nishiyama Park,” a spectacular spot for azalea viewing

Nishiyama Park is the best azalea viewing spot in Hokuriku. From late April to early May each year, more than 50,000 azaleas burst into full bloom, painting the entire mountain with bright red, pink, white, and purple. Don’t miss capturing the beautiful gradient with your camera. On the 3rd and 4th of May, the “Sabae Tsutsuji (Azalea) Matsuri” festival livens up the park with a vibrant atmosphere. There are also events, shops, and plenty of gourmet options. Enjoy your spring break here. Nishiyama Zoo, where you can see red pandas, and the popular athletic facilities for children are also recommended for a family outing.

“SALON DE GOUTER”: A high-quality Matcha Cafe with delicious sweets

SALON DE GOUTER opened on the 3rd of October 2022, produced by the famous French restaurant in Fukui City, “Wa-French IORI.” The most popular item on the menu, “Premium Uji Matcha Parfait,” is a luxurious treat made with premium matcha from the long-established tea shop “Yamamasa Koyamaen.” It is well-balanced with Japanese sweets such as matcha ice cream, matcha jelly, and Warabimochi. And it is not too sweet but has an elegant taste with a strong matcha flavor. We recommend having it with the aromatic tea “Kyoto Hojicha Tenko.” Experience the unique roasted aroma and richness of Hojicha. The café’s colorful tableware enhances the bright atmosphere. It is a charming cafe that uses local products such as Echizen lacquerware and pottery, giving us the unique fascination of Fukui.
