Kotobuki-sei-an: Enjoy a blissful moment with rich matcha and cream from this crepe shop in Asakusa

Kotobuki-sei-an (寿清庵) is a 1 min. walk from Asakusa Hanayashiki. It’s a crepe shop that uses high-grade matcha from Kuwahara Zensuke Shouten which is a renowned tea shop in Kyoto. It’s a hidden shop in a back alley, but people always post about it on social media. You purchase a ticket from a machine and pick up your order at the time on your ticket, so we recommend you order first before you go sightseeing.

There are about 4-5 matcha crepes on the menu along with matcha drinks that pair well with the crepes. The crepes are named after things related to Kyoto. One of the most popular ones is the Yasaka (八坂). It has matcha cream and sweet black beans in a freshly made crepe and is topped with mascarpone, matcha castella cake, and plenty of matcha powder. The rich, matcha aroma and creamy texture will definitely make you smile.

Their sister store, Kotobuki-sei-an Chashitsu Asakusa (寿清庵 茶室 浅草), is a 4-minute walk away. You can eat fresh pies baked with matcha. You have to eat it if you love matcha.
