When winter comes and the temperatures go down, illuminations start to shine everywhere in Tokyo and we can come across breathtaking views. This time, we’re going to introduce 3 recommended winter illuminations from among the ones that are held in venues within 7 stations away from the nearest station of Hotel Tavinos Hamamatsucho. Why not stop by there while shopping or having a meal?

The elegant scenery produced by the street and artworks illuminated by one million light bulbs -“Marunouchi Illumination 2019”

This year marks the 18th anniversary of “Marunouchi Illumination 2019,” which is held around Tokyo Station every year. The highlight is Marunouchi Naka-dori Street draped in champagne gold colored light of one million bulbs. It looks as if about 220 trees planted along 1.2 km street with brand shops have countless light flowers on it.Walking along the street while seeing the sparkling illuminations, we found the sculpture “SPIRAL.UQ” that was giving off a pleasant golden glow thanks to the light of illuminations. Its twisted and complicated shape looks like a ribbon that wraps a big Christmas present. As we mentioned, you can also enjoy streetscape combining artworks and illumination.

“Caretta Illumination2019” taking you to the fantastic world which is casted a spell by Aladin’s Lamp

Caretta Illumination 2019″ is now in progress at Caretta Shiodome which is a shopping complex having a panoramic view of Tokyo Tower and TOKYO SKYTREE®︎. This year’s theme is the Disney movie ‘Aladdin.’ Why not explore the enchanting world of Arabian nights? If you look at illuminations closely, you will find lots of things speaking to your heart such as candle and flower-shaped lighting and a lamp surrounded by drape lights. The highlight is a light show performed once every 15 mins! When Aladin’s popular songs are played, countless lights will give off various colors. This awesome sight will lead you to A Whole New World. You can overlook the entire view of illuminations from a window on the upper floor because the venue is on the second basement floor.

Enjoy illuminations without worrying about the weather or cold! -“VenusFort Illumination 2019-2020 -Grateful Harmony-” coloring the space like the streetscape of medieval Europe

A shopping complex ‘VenusFort,’ marking the 20th anniversary this year, is holding “VenuesFort Illumination 2019-2020 -Grateful Harmony-” until mid-March. Containing a wish for allowing visitors to spend a wonderful time to convey their gratitude, this event creates a heart-warming space under the theme of ‘Arigato,’ ‘Harmony’ and ‘Heartful.’ You can find sparkling illuminations all over the shopping complex inspired by the cityscape of medieval Europe. In particular, ‘Grateful Harmony Fountain’ at Fountain Plaza is must-see. The dynamic and fantastic view created by mirror balls, snowflake-shaped ornaments and drape lights giving off gentle light hung from the atrium will make you have butterflies in your stomach.
