3 Urawa’s Must-Get Exquisite Sweets Made From Ingredients of Saitama Prefecture or Carefully Selected by Top-Class Pastry Chefs

アカシエのフォンダン・シトロン(ACACIER's FONDANT CITORON)

“Urawa” in Saitama prefecture is only 3 stations from Shinjuku station on the Shonan-Shinjuku line. This time, let us introduce 3 Urawa’s sweets found from the souvenir shops within a 15-minute walk from Urawa Station. They are perfect as souvenirs, using a lot of ingredients from Saitama Prefecture or carefully selected by top-class pastry chefs.

Handmade cheesecake “Hachigoku” with a faint scent of Saitama’s famous sake “Seiun” and the rich cheese taste is highly evaluated as a souvenir of Japan

Reference form EPARK “日本酒とお米のチーズケーキ 八極 6個入り

“DANTE (ダンテ)” is a cheesecake specialty store that uses carefully selected additive-free ingredients to make the most of the natural flavor and sweetness of the ingredients. It is also worth noting that each item is made wholeheartedly. We recommend “Hachigoku (八極),” which has won the semi-grand prix at the ‘Attractive Japanese Souvenir Contest’ sponsored by the Japan Tourism Agency. It is a new cheesecake that uses ingredients of Saitama’s specialties, such as old sake made by aging the famous sake ‘Seiun (晴雲)’ made in Ogawa Town, Saitama Prefecture, sake lees and rice flour. When you put it in your mouth, you can feel the rich flavor of cheese and then the mellow scent of sake. The refined taste that you should never-experienced goes well with alcohol as well as coffee and tea.

Moist and fluffy “FONDANT CITRON” with a refreshing lemon scent is made of the ingredients carefully selected by a top-class pastry chef who has won the French competition

The popular pastry store “ACACIER” is owned by a talented pastry chef who won the chocolate department of France’s three major pastry chef competitions. The store is lined with exquisite sweets with a high degree of artistry. The most popular is the lemon cake “FONDANT CITRON,” which uses carefully selected ingredients such as lemon from Hiroshima prefecture, butter from Hokkaido, and almonds from Spain. The moist but fluffy texture and the refreshing scent of lemon that fills your mouth are attractive. The balance with the sweet and sour icing that slightly covers the dough is also exquisite. To reach the ideal texture and fragrance, it was born by repeating trial production many times. The retro box with lemons picture on it is cute as well.

“Maneki Usagi” by a long-established Japanese confectionery store filled with bean paste using local ingredients is a gentle taste bun with sharp of the motif of a rabbit of ‘Tsuki Shrine’ that has been loved by the locals

Reference from Saitama Sweetsval “和菓子松月堂

Tsuki Shrine(調神社)‘ is nicknamed ‘Tsukinomiyasama’ in the local area. Since ‘Tsuki(調)’ is the same pronunciation as ‘moon(月),’ stone statues and carvings of rabbits, which are said to be the moon’s messenger, are arranged everywhere in the precincts. “Maneki Usagi (招きうさぎ)”, which is a signboard product of the Japanese sweets shop ‘Shogetsudo(松月堂)’ founded in 1968, is a bun with sharp of the motif of a rabbit of Tsuki Shrine. About 20 years ago, it was created in response to a request from Urawa City (now Saitama City) to “make a city specialty.” Yam and rice flour are used for the moist texture of the dough. There are four types of bean paste, red beans, yuzu, chestnuts, and plums, and most of the ingredients used are from Saitama prefecture. It is full of locals’ gentle love inside the adorable rabbit-shaped bun.
