The trail leading visitors from Minoh Station to the waterfall along the mountain stream of the Mino River (箕面川) through the Ichinohashi Bridge (一の橋), which is the entrance to the park, is called “Takimichi” (滝道, waterfall trail). Although the distance to the waterfall is 2.8km from the station, it is a well-maintained trail so that you can easily take a walk even with a regular outfit and shoes. On the way to the waterfall, you’ll find shops and stands offering the famous tempura of salted maple leaf, the local delicacy. Why not try some of them from different shops and compare each taste? As you walk towards the waterfall while gazing at the beautiful red and yellow leaves, there are also some attractions including Mino Park Museum of Insects (箕面公園昆虫館) where you can observe butterflies flying all year round, and Ryuanji Temple (箕面山瀧安寺) which is said to be the birthplace of lotteries in Japan. If you have plenty of time to spend in the park, it is recommended to stop by those spots as well.

A breathtaking waterfall “Mino Waterfall” (箕面大滝) with a fall of 33m, which has been selected as one of ‘The Best 100 Waterfalls of Japan’, was named after a large amount of falling water that looks like a winnow (箕) for a farm tool. The place’s name ‘Mino’ (箕面) is also derived from this waterfall. It is also famous as the place where a famous Haiku poet Yahan Goto (後藤夜半, 1895-1976) left the poetry in which he’d admired the ephemeral beauty of the water continuously falling through. Though many tourists visit the waterfall all year round, it attracts more and more during the fall foliage season. The appearance of the waterfall full of energy seen through the fiery maple leaves is truly magnificent. You’ll be fascinated by the beautiful collaboration of autumn leaves and the waterfall while feeling the roaring sound and splashing water flowing down up close. If you want the best shot of the view, take a photo on the red Takimi Bridge (滝見橋).
