Ando Tadao’s Notable Architectural Facility. Nakanoshima Children’s Book Forest – A Interesting Place for Adults and Children to Experience the Charm of Books
Nakanoshima Children’s Book Forest opened in Nakanoshi in 2020 as a cultural facility for children. Here, lending books is not available, but it’s a facility where you can freely touch and encounter the charm of books. Priority is given to advance reservations (while some days allow admission on a first-come, first-served basis), so we recommend making early reservations. Please pay attention to the unique architecture of famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando, which skillfully incorporated exposed concrete, lights, and shadow. The bookshelves that cover the entire wall from the 1st to 3rd floors are a masterpiece! It’s also a great place to take photogenic pictures. The displayed books are accessible in the lower row, allowing visitors to pick them up and read them. It’s also good for children during summer vacation to find topics for reading impressions. There are many unusual books that cannot be found in general libraries, so try to find your favorites. The facility offers plenty of reading spaces, including the grand staircase and sofas, where you can enjoy reading in your best position.
