It’s finally winter. In December, the city goes into Christmas mode, and there will be Christmas light events in many places. You can get into the Christmas spirit by walking through a city that is enveloped in beautiful lights. We’ll tell you about our favorite Christmas light spots in Tokyo. Keep them in mind when you plan your trip.

The Marunouchi Christmas lights will celebrate their 23rd year this year. The trees that line the streets of the Marunouchi area in Tokyo will be decorated with champagne gold lights. The main street in Marunouchi and the area in front of Yurakucho Station will be lit up. When you walk around, it feels like you jumped into an alternate universe of light. Until December 25th, there will be a Christmas market, Marunouchi Street Park 2024 Winter, held over a few blocks including Marunouchi Naka-dori Avenue. There will be a Christmas tree, Christmas lights, and all kinds of ways to get in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy the lights with a warm drink from one of the food trucks.

Get in the Christmas spirit with lights that illuminate Hibiya: HIBIYA Magic Time Illumination
HIBIYA Magic Time Illumination is a big Christmas light event in Hibiya, Tokyo. The theme changes every year, and they do collaboration events. The main area, Hibiya Step Plaza, will have a Disney movie light display. You will feel like you stepped into the magical world of the movies. The concept of the Hibiya Naka-dori Avenue lights is “mystic skies”. The trees that line the streets will be decorated with beautiful colors. Come to Hibiya to experience a gorgeous and mysterious atmosphere.

TOKYO ILLUMILIA is a Christmas light event in the Yaesu/Nihonbashi area in Tokyo. The event is held on the route from Tokyo Station (Yaesu Exit) to Nihonbashi. The photo is from a previous collaboration event. It is a piece from the installation art troupe, MIRRORBOWLER. The focus of their pieces is light and reflection. TOKYO ILLUMILIA aims to blend Japanese traditional culture with lights. One of the highlights is the limited-time art collaborations with various groups and companies. There are many shops and restaurants in the area, so enjoy the winter lights of the city while you shop and eat.
