A peaceful canal ride through cherry blossoms. Breathtaking spring views from the Fushi Jikkoku boats
When spring arrives in Fushimi, Kyoto, the cherry blossoms alongside the canal bloom all at once, and the water is colored a light pink. You can enjoy the view on the Fushimi Jikkoku boats. Fushimi was once a town that was known for distilling alcohol, so during the Edo period, there were many boats carrying rice and sake coming and going. The Jikkoku boats carry on that tradition through sightseeing boats. During cherry blossom season, the cherry blossoms form a tunnel that you can go through with these boats.

From the boat, you can see the townscape and old sake distilleries. The history of the town can be felt throughout the ride. At some point during the ride, you go under a bridge and the cherry blossoms are within arms reach. The warm, spring sun is reflected on the water, and the shimmer creates a beautiful contrast with the cherry blossoms. The boatsman will guide you through the history and culture of Fushimi. Come visit Kyoto in spring, ride on a Jikkoku boat, and lose yourself among the cherry blossom petals drifting in the wind.
