An oasis of colorful roses — Nakanoshima Rose Garden

At Nakanoshima Rose Garden, you can find around 310 types of roses spanning over 4,000 bushes. It’s a popular spot for the summer. This lush green space appears suddenly amongst the towering city buildings, so it is an oasis for many people. Peak viewing season for the roses is from mid-May to the end of May. The harmony of red, yellow, pink, and orange is a scene from a painting. The roses are especially photogenic under the morning sunlight. There are plenty of benches in the garden, so grab a drink and take a break here. You can even get a little meal from a cafe nearby and have a picnic. It’s a unique space of colorful flowers in the city. Come stop by to start off your trip or between your sightseeing excursions.

Sumiyoshi Taisha is a shrine with over 1,800 years of history. It’s perfect if you want a moment of peace during your trip. As soon as you step foot into its grounds, you’ll notice a different atmosphere. Especially during May and June, the greens become greener. The contrast between the greenery and the red bridge is stark and beautiful. The shrine is beloved by locals and even has a nickname: Sumiyossan. It is said that it brings good relationships, good luck, and safe travels. Sumiyoshi Taisha has 4 main buildings which is unique in Japan. After visiting the shrine, be sure to check out Sumiyoshi Park and some local delicacies.
