Collaboration with Tokyo’s night view from 150m above the ground and the Milky Way created with 21,000 light balls －Tokyo Tower’s Summer Event “Milky Way Illuminations”

This time, we’re going to introduce Tokyo Tower’s summer feature “Milky Way Illuminations.”

“Milky Way Illuminations” is being held on the 1st floor of the main deck of Tokyo Tower until 26th September. Under the theme of Tanabata (Star Festival) legend of two stars, Orihime and Hikoboshi, 21,000 LED bulbs decorate the ceiling of this floor 150m above the ground. They create a star-filled sky and Milky Way while giving off various color lights. Such Milky Way of light turns into any of the 7 colors such as pink, blue and green or wear all 7 colors like aurorae. It also produces a more romantic atmosphere by its production of crossing by occasional shooting stars.

In addition, when the illumination is reflected on the glass window, it looks as if the real Milky Way appeared over Tokyo’s sparkling night views including the shining light of skyscrapers. Let’s look toward the Akabanebashi intersection! You will have butterflies in your stomach by seeing Tokyo Tower on the ground shaped by car lights.
By the way, until 25th July, the light performance is also played with the music ‘Film out’ collaborated by K-POP group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) and Japanese band ‘back number’. In April the song was released, it won the first prize of iTunes in 97 countries and regions. With this music played once every 15 minutes, the BTS logo is displayed on the monitor and the Milky Way’s color changes based on purple. The ballad song, colors of the Milky Way and views outside windows make invite you to the breathtaking world of light.
