Tokyo’s Hidden Sakura Spot “Shiokaze Park” with Spring Scenery Created by Cherry Blossoms, Palm Trees and Tokyo Bay

“Shiokaze Park” (潮風公園) located along Tokyo Bay is a park where you can enjoy walking while feeling shiokaze (sea breeze) as its name suggests. This park is popular for picnics and barbecues, and it’s also a hidden cherry blossom viewing spot. There are cherry blossoms and palm trees with a tropical atmosphere along the road, and you can enjoy a more gorgeous view.

潮風公園の春景色(Spring Scenery of Shiokaze Park)

Shiokaze Park is a seaside park adjacent to Odaiba Seaside Park (お台場海浜公園), and approximately 15㎡ of the area is the largest scale in Tokyo Waterfront City. For a long time, there were entrance regulations to the park due to the renovation work and holding Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, but it has been reopened in both the north and south areas of the park since April 2022.

This park is divided into north and south areas, and the latter is especially recommended during a cherry blossom viewing season. In the main long way connecting the South Central Exit and the Fountain Square, ‘Water and Green Promenade’ in the south area, palm trees and Yoshino cherry tree blossoms are lined up in a straight line on both sides. You must be impressed by the collaboration with the palm tree that is a symbol of the tropical country and a Japanese tradition, the cherry blossoms. The best time to see is from mid-March to mid-April every year.

Incidentally, the north area has the park’s largest circular square, ‘Sun Square’, and it’s widely used for events and picnics. (*as of April 2022, the square is no admittance due to nurturing of the lawn.) In addition, there is also a barbecue area and observatory where you can overlook Tokyo Harbor, so please stop by the exciting park.
