“WORLD BAGS & LUGGAGE MUSEUM”(世界カバン博物館) is located in Ace corporation Tokyo branch close to Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro Asakusa Line. Actually, this museum is a spot where bags are collected from all over the world from ethnic to luxury. How about visiting not only walking and eating around in Senso-ji and Nakamise Street but the hidden sights of Asakusa?

世界カバン博物館(WORLD BAGS & LUGGAGE MUSEUM)

“WORLD BAGS & LUGGAGE MUSEUM” was founded by the founder of Ace well known for suitcases, Ryusaku Shinkawa, because he visited the German Leather Museum in 1958. A lot of leather goods were exhibited in the museum that Shinkawa visited, but it seems that there were only about 10 bags. He felt something is missing from the situation, and had a strong desire to ‘Gather bags from around the world, and help more people to understand the history, culture and customs of bags in various countries.’ Then, he actively collected products made by talented craftsmen both inside and outside Japan, and he completed the museum in 1975.

The museum exhibited valuable items collected from the world’s five continents and over 50 countries. For example, the crocodile leather cabin trunk, which is said to currently exist in only 3 in the world. In addition, fascinating bags are lined up in a low such as zebra Boston bags, which have slightly different leather patterns.

There is a spacious break room, so you can make time for looking back on the culture after watching it. It’s also a good point that you can enjoy viewing the TOKYO SKYTREE®︎.
