Renovation of Ginza Landmark – The Rebirth of Wako Main Building as SEIKO HOUSE GINZA, a center of the SEIKO Brand

Wako Main Buiding stands on the corner of the Ginza 4-chome intersection and has been loved as a Ginza landmark. To mark its 90th anniversary in 2022, the building was reborn from the Wako Main Building to SEIKO HOUSE GINZA featuring a facility including an event hall that conveys Japanese art and tradition. How about visiting this landmark that has been reopened while preserving its historical value?

SEIKO has continued to make beautiful watches Including a series in which Shohei Otani, an MLB player, serves as the image character. Its predecessor, Hattori Clock Store, opened in Ginza 4-chome in 1894. At that time, in response to a strong request from the founder, Kintaro Hattori, a clock tower was installed on the roof of the building. However, the founder’s clock tower was dismantled for transportation to the Osaka Store. The current second-generation clock tower was completed in 1932. After that, Wako, inheriting the retail division of Hattori Watch Store, was founded, and Ginza Wako officially opened in 1952

For 90 years since the 2nd generation clock tower was completed, the Wako Main Building has continued to have an overwhelming presence as a Ginza landmark. In 2022, when the building reached a turning point, it changed its name to SEIKO HOUSE GINZA and reopened. In addition to the Ginza and Wako stores, which are located on the first basement floor to the fourth floor above ground, they have opened Seiko House Ginza Hall on the 6th floor. This space serves as the center of the Seiko brand, hosting exhibitions, and organizing various events related to the group’s businesses. Additionally, there is a guest lounge on the 5th floor and a rooftop Seiko Sky Garden where you can see the clock tower up close. Experience the power of this historic building up close!
