Sendai Umi-no Mori Aquarium is near the port in Sendai, Japan. It opened in 2015 as the successor to a different aquarium in Miyagi Prefecture. This aquarium showcases around 50,000 creatures of around 300 species. There are dolphin shows, sea lion shows, places to touch creatures, and displays of creatures from all over the world. You can enjoy the sea with all your senses. They even host seasonal and nighttime events. No matter when or how many times you visit, you get to see the ocean in a new way. STADIUM LIVE is a performance full of excitement

One of the highlights at Sendai Umi-no Mori Aquarium is the dolphin/sea lion/bird performance, STADIUM LIVE. the Umi-no Mori Stadium can hold close to 1,000 people and is the largest of its kind in the Tohoku region. There is no acrylic barrier on the side of the pool, so the audience can feel extra close to the animals. People who don’t mind getting wet can sit near the front with ponchos on. Make fun memories with an exciting performance by the dolphins.

Indulge in gourmet seafood in a food court as you watch the penguins

One of the fun parts of going to an aquarium is eating the unique foods there. At Sendai Umi-no Mori Aquarium, you can eat seafood and foods made with local products. At “wakuwaku ocean Food Court”, you can find curry, snacks, special ramen, nuggets made with shark meat, and various other foods. Next to the food court, you can look at penguins. Check it out when you need a short break. There are other cafes in the aquarium like “cabana” or “UMIMORI Cafe”. You can take items to-go, so in summer, we recommend getting some soft serve to take to the dolphin show.
