“Kishiwada Castle” lived through a turbulent period

“Kishiwada Castle” was built around 1334 by Wada Takaie, a general in the army of Kusunoki Masashige on this spot that was called Kishi meaning ‘shore’ at the time. It’s said that this castle turned into a battlefield of the Battle of Kishiwada during the Azuchi-Momoyama Period (1573 – 1603).Nowadays, this castle is maintained as Chikiri Park, and exhibition rooms for artifacts, a watchtower and so on in the three-layered castle tower. On the other hand, ‘Hachijin Garden’ in front of the castle was created 66 years ago, and the water-filled moat and the stone wall surrounding has over 600 years of history. Let’s learn Japanese history while feeling a traditional atmosphere that makes you feel as if you’re in that era!
