Sasebo City having many parks with superb views created by magnificent nature and cherry blossoms
Sasebo city, located in the northern part of Nagasaki prefecture, flourished as a naval port of the former Navy in the past and it takes about 2 hours by Shinkansen from Hakata Station. It’s said that cherry blossoms will start to bloom on 22nd March and be in full bloom on 1st April in this city. Anyway, do you know Sasebo city has lots of parks famous for cherry blossoms? For example, “Nagasaki Prefectural Saikaibashi Park” at the foot of Saikai Bridge spanning Hario Strait. Here, your eyes are sure to be caught by approximately 1,000 cherry blossom trees and the rapid tide swirling. Besides, there are also “Matakedani Park” which is the only spot with many weeping cherry blossoms in Nagasaki prefecture and “Sasebo Park” where the murmuring of Sasebo river and 150 cherry blossom trees produce relaxing space, “Tenjin Park” where about 200 cherry blossoms proudly bloom against the background of Sasebo port and so on. These spots are recommended for traveling with little children because they can be visited by bus without any transfers or have playground equipment.
Hiroshima City filled with spots where you can enjoy sightseeing while admiring cherry blossoms
Located in the central-southern part of the Chugoku region, Hiroshima city in Hiroshima prefecture is approximately one hour by Shinkansen from Hakata Station. It’s said that cherry blossoms will start to bloom on 18th March and be in full bloom on 16th March in this city. There are lots of spots, where you can view cherry blossoms while sightseeing, in areas great access from Hiroshima Washington Hotel’s nearest stations, JR Hiroshima Station and Hatchobori Station on Hiroshima Electric Railway. In “Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park” famous for a world heritage ‘A-Bomb Dome,’ about 300 Yoshino cherry trees create elegant scenery mainly along Motoyasu river flowering on the east side. In addition, approximately 1,300 cherry blossom trees surround “Hijiyama Park” with various charms such as the observatory deck having a panoramic view of Hiroshima’s cityscape and the Seto Inland Sea, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and Hiroshima City Manga Library. Furthermore, don’t forget to visit “Hiroshima Botanical Garden” which is colored by cherry blossoms for about 1 month every year thanks to 67 kinds of them are planted, too!
