The best back-alley crammed with Japanese taverns opening 24/7 to savor local foods from all over Japan -“Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho”
Located near Ginza, Shinbashi and Tokyo Station, Yurakucho is famous as a place having popular shopping complexes such as Yurakucho Marion and Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. Moreover, there are some spots where we can get local ingredients or enjoy local dishes, including Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan with over 10 shops that specialize in local products from various regions in Japan. From among them, this time, we’re going to introduce “Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho (有楽町産直横丁)” making you feel as if you’re traveling around Japan through food.
“Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho” is located under the overpass stretching toward Shinbashi Station from Yurakucho Station. Originally, there was ‘Yurakucho Sanchoku Inshokugai’ where 5 restaurants using local specialty ingredients such as seafood and horsemeat lined up. It was filled with lots of people as the origin of the boom for food direct delivered from producers, however, closed in 2017 because of seismic reinforcing work of the elevated railroad. After 2 years, it was reborn as the current Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho.
“Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho” is crammed with 5 taverns offering dishes using ingredients directly purchased from producers and fishing ports and 6 ones offering local dishes of various regions in Japan. For example, ‘Sakana no Hamakei (魚の浜恵).’ They put seasonal fish sent directly from fishing ports all over Japan into a fish tank to keep it fresh and cook it as soon as they receive orders. At ‘Hokkaido Shokuichi (北海道食市),’ you can taste one of the local’s favorite food of Nemuro ‘Esukaroppu’ -Japanese pork cutlets cut into a size that is easy to eat is placed on butter rice and served with plenty of demi-glace sauce. It’s also attractive that you can savor dishes of all of 11 taverns without moving from a tavern to other one. Staff brings what you order to anywhere you are (only in this Yokocho).
Furthermore, to open 24/7 fascinates us. In other words, you can stop by here at any time you want to visit like morning, lunchtime, dating, etc. There is a great variety of menus, so we also recommend here for those who want to eat a little bit of many different dishes.
