As you know, TOKYO SKYTREE®︎ is one of Tokyo’s landmarks and popular as a dating spot and travel destination among Japanese people. After enjoying a stunning view from the height of 634m, it might be good to stroll around this area while seeing the tower. This time, we selected 3 spots healing us from among places where we can visit on foot from Tokyo Skytree Station: the latest shopping complex and footway bridge and insta-worthy spot.

Just opened in June! The shopping complex with 14 shops of different genres under the railway bridge -“TOKYO mizumachi”

“TOKYO mizumachi” opened under the railway bridge leading from Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree line to Tokyo Skystree Station on 18th June 2020. With the aim to make the area around the Kitajukken river running into the Sumida river more vibrant, this commercial facility was born by collaborating with Sumida-ku and Tobu Railway. It has the concept of ‘A place where people, regions, and cultures come and go, where life is like travel and travel is like life,’ and we can discover the magic of a community-based downtown area through traveling around here.

TOKYO mizumachi consists of 2 zones: West Zone and East Zone. There are 7 unique shops that take advantage of the waterfront landscape in each zone. West Zone on the Asakusa side in front of Sumida Park is filled with mainly eateries such as cafes and bakery shops. On the other hand, East Zone on the TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN®︎ side has a facility that transmits Sumida-ku’s excellent items and culture, cafes allowing us to experience various activities including bouldering and so on (scheduled to open gradually). You can enjoy meals, shopping and a little exercise, so how about choosing a shop suiting your mood?

When stopping by at TOKYO mizumachi, you should walk on the latest footbridge “Sumida River Walk.” Crossing over the Sumida river, this footbridge connects TOKYO mizumachi to Asakusa. We also recommend you head to TOKYO mizumachi from Asakusa by walking this footbridge. From above the 160m-long bridge where the refreshing breeze from the river blows, you can enjoy a superb panoramic view mixing modern scenery and good old one.

TOKYO SKYTREE®︎ reflecting on the surface of the river takes your breath away -“Jyukkenhashi Bridge”

TOKYO SKYTREE®︎ seen from “Jyukkenhashi Bridge (十間橋)” at night. There is no obstruction to interrupt the view, so you can take a photo of the whole TOKYO SKYTREE®︎ with a height of 634 meters. The inverted tower reflected on the surface of the Kitajyukken River that flows under the bridge is also attractive. The color illuminating the tower change depending on the season and time, so you can see a view with a different atmosphere if visiting again and again.
