3 New Normal Style outdoor & indoor Christmas Lights within walking distance from JR Sapporo Station

Some of sightseeing spots around JR Sapporo Station in Hokkaido prefecture have started illumination events since early November. These places fascinate people with fantastic space created by inside illuminations or collaborations with Sapporo’s landmarks such as Sapporo Television Tower. It’s also one of the charms that venues and observatories adopt new normal styles suitable for 2020. You can enjoy Sapporo’s winter scenery without worrying about anything to your heart’s content. From among them, we’re going to introduce the illumination event held in front of JR Sapporo Station and 2 Christmas lights spots allowing us to see sparkling views regardless of weather. They may make your winter dating and Christmas trip more romantic.

The collaboration of Sapporo’s landmarks and 830,000 lights －One of Japan’s three famous illumination events “The 40th Sapporo White Illumination”

“The 40th Sapporo White illumination” is said to be held firstly in Japan among illumination events. This year, there are 5 venues with different themes, and they use 830,000 light bulbs. When it gets t 4:30 PM, light sculpture using flower and forest, Christmas and so on as a motif and light bulbs decorating trees turn on. In the background, you can see landmarks such as Sapporo Television Tower and Red Brick Government Building and take special pictures unique to winter. Depending on venues, it will be held until mid-March 2021, so this event is also perfect for new year’s holidays and Valentine’s trips.

The whole inside of the building is colored by illuminations that express gratitude to health professionals －One of Japan’s largest shopping complexes “Sapporo Factory”

One of Japan’s largest shopping complexes “Sapporo Factory” is holding ‘SAPPORO FACTORY CHRISTMAS 2020’ in its building. This year, in order to express gratitude to those who are working to support people’s lives in spite of COVID-19 pandemic, blue light illuminates here. What you should pay attention to is the jumbo Christmas tree set on the 1st floor with a height of about 15 meters. It’s decorated with approximately 50,000 LED bulbs and ornaments mainly using red and blue, yellow, white, green and gold. Besides, there are arches and red carpets on the paths leading to the tree. The layout will make you feel as if you were a princess or prince.

Burn a panoramic sparkling view of Sapporo from Hokkaido’s tallest building into your memory －”JR Tower Observation Deck T38″

Directly connected to JR Sapporo Station, JR Tower is a shopping complex and the highest building in Hokkaido. It has “JR Tower Observation Deck T38” on the top floor (a height of 160m above the ground) and shows visitors a brightly shining view of Sapporo due to light given off from buildings and illuminations. The night view spreading toward Ishikari Bay and Susukino, Mt. Yubari and so on seems to be studded with jewels. During “Sapporo White Illumination” period, the center of Sapporo shines more than the usual situation. It’s also a good point that we can have a relax time while seeing the view without feeling cramped because visitors must maintain social distance.
