“Nimi Western Tableware” (ニイミ洋食器店) was established in 1907 and is one of the biggest stores in the area. When you are lost finding the store, just look up for a huge cook statue on top of a building. When you enter the store, there are hundreds of thousands of Japanese, Western and Chinese style tableware as well as pans, pots, knives, cutleries and everything about food. Since the number of items is countless, just consult with a store’s employees what you are looking for. Whoever you talk to, he or she will cooperatively help you with rich knowledge of items. Overwhelmed by the tower made with 3,000 cookie cutters of 1,500 kinds: An art-museum-like “Majimaya Confectionery Tool & Gear Shop”

At “Majimaya Confectionery Tool & Gear Shop” (馬嶋屋菓子道具店) founded in 1951, you can find not only cutters and molds for cookies but also wooden molds for Japanese sweets, confectionery gears and machines produced by its own. Renovation was made to its store in 2019 and it is as if the building itself is covered by woods materials. Once you step into the shop, you instantly encounter a huge tower made of 3,000 cookie cutters of 1,500 kinds, standing through at an atrium. On the side of the staircase of 2 floors long, there are boxes installed in which cookie cutters stored. If you are lucky enough to find your favorite, just open the box and take your favorite to purchase. Or you can also make you own designed cookie cutter.

Find your own chopsticks at “Hashiou Honten” being intrigued by the craftsmanship

At “Hashitou Honten” (はし藤本店) established over 100 years ago, there are variety of chopsticks made only by wood raised in Japan. Some are deliverables of collaborations with traditional craftsmen of Hakone Yosegi Zaiku (箱根寄木細工) or those of lacquering. Also, because of the store’s wide range of available items, professional chefs visit seeking cooking chopsticks. Still, items are categorized by kinds, origins of wood and so on, it should be easier to seek your favorite than you think it is. Of course, you can get your own chopsticks but it is also recommended getting some as gifts to your belove. Please also keep this advice in your mind that It is said that the best length of chopsticks is 4 cm longer than that distance between your wrist to the top of middle finger.
