he real-life drama location! “Imado Shrine” known as a spiritual spot for matchmaking and the birthplace of ‘Maneki neko’

‘Koi wa Tsudukuyo Dokomademo’ is one of Japan’s popular TV dramas full of scenes making our hearts flutter, in which Takeru Sato played a doctor. Then, do you know Asakusa’s shrine appearing in it?
Its heroin named Nanase Sakura visited here to make a wish for matchmaking when she came to Tokyo for a school trip? The name is “Imado Shrine.” This time, we’re going to introduce Imado Shrine’s history and highlights.

Built in 1063, “Imado Shrine” is located near Sumida Park at Asakusa side. It’s famous as a spiritual spot of love that brings you good luck with matchmaking, fulfillment in love and happy marriage.

When you pass through the Torii Gate, the dedicated various large and small of Maneki Neko (Beckoning Cat) and the main shrine welcome you. Maneki Neko with a heartwarming facial expression seems to be warmly watching over worshipers. Adorable Maneki Neko is also hidden in flower pots, so why not find them while feeling as if you’re playing a treasure hunt game?
Once upon a time, this area produced a ceramic called ‘Imado-Yaki’ and Maneki Neko. Therefore, it is also said that “Imado Shrine” is the birthplace of Maneki Neko.

After playing at the main shrine having Ema (votive picture) with Takeru Sato’s wish and poster of the TV drama, you should head to the place for washing hands. Let’s write your wish on a round-shaped Ema and dedicate it! By the way, this place surrounded by countless Ema is a nostalgic and cute photo spot.
