Grocery Store & Cafe “Marked” – Selling Unique Ingredients, Homemade Bread and Ice Cream

“Marked” opened on 31st July 2021 in Kuramae, Tokyo. It’s the shop that sells the ingredients gathered from all over Japan, homemade bread, sandwiches and ice cream with seasonal foods. The shop has been becoming popular as a store that handles carefully selected ingredients that you won’t find anywhere else.

Marked means ‘interesting things’ in English and ‘market’ in Danish. The shop sells products that appeal to people, it is said that the motto is ‘connect producers and city’s people. The sellers not only take good care of delivering just good quality and unique products to an area but also add the story of the producers and products.

The shop consists of a cafe and grocery on the 1st floor, a bakery on the 2nd floor, and an ice cream factory on the 3rd floor. Seasonings, wine, daily necessaries, including fresh vegetables are sold on the 1st floor. The shop is particular about each product, so you will enjoy just looking at them.

Above all, homemade ice cream is a very popular product for a wide range of generations. It is used seasonal ingredients, you can enjoy the unique taste such as ‘Broiled Sweet Corn with burned Soy Sauce’ (焼きとうもろこ し) and ‘Edamame with Salt Olive Oil’ (枝豆塩オリーブ). It is the sweets that anyone can eat without worry, which doesn’t make use of any food coloring or stabilizers.
