“Karatomari Ebisu Kakigoya” where you can enjoy brand-name oysters as you charcoal-grill
‘Karatomari Ebisu Oyster’ (唐泊恵比須かき), the brand-name oyster of Fukuoka City Fisheries Cooperative’s, is characterized by its rich flavor yet not fishy at all, large and crispy body, and really chewy scallops. In winter, many locals and tourists visit the producing area in search of its freshness. “Karatomari Ebisu Kakiboya” (唐泊恵比須かき小屋) is the first authentic Kakigoya (牡蠣小屋, oyster house, an eatery offering fresh oysters that have been just landed) in Fukuoka Prefecture, where you get to grille those fresh oysters yourself and enjoy by the sea. When you step into the place, you’ll find around 320 seats all equipped with charcoal-grill stoves. Since the charcoal provided here does not easily fly ashes, you can enjoy freshly grilled oysters and other seafood without worrying about getting your outfit dusty. And even if you are not confident in how to cook nicely, you don’t have to worry since experienced employees will help you to do so. There are also seaside seats with outstanding views.
