Summer in Yokohama is bursting with festivals—discover this season’s highlights!

横浜の花火(fireworks in Yokohama)

The sea breeze along Yokohama Bay feels refreshing. Just south of Tokyo, Yokohama was the first Japanese port opened to international trade, so its streets blend Japanese and Western architecture. Modern high-rises now add a glittering skyline, making the city a top sightseeing spot. Each summer Yokohama comes alive with festivals that mix music, food, and a holiday vibe. We’ve hand-picked three standout events for you.

Enjoy a four-day, Hawaii-themed festival at Yokohama’s historic Red Brick Warehouse, now a shopping mall and event venue. Wander through a colorful market, sample tropical food, and dance to lively music. Authentic hula shows and live ukulele sets are scheduled, while booths offer lomi-lomi massage, Hawaiian crafts, and gourmet treats—fun for all ages. The official theme song, “FUN! ALOHA!”—a new release from renowned Japanese singer Hitomi Shimatani—debuts here, with the artist herself on stage.
