Ueno Zoo, Japan’s oldest and most beloved zoo, has delighted visitors for generations. The star attraction is, of course, the giant pandas—scheduled to return to China in 2026, so now is the perfect time to see them with family and friends. Alongside the pandas, the zoo is home to about 300 species, from gorillas and tigers to elephants, offering a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. Conveniently located just a short walk from Ueno Station, it’s an easy stop on any Tokyo itinerary. Nestled within Ueno Onshi Park, the zoo can also be combined with nearby museums and art galleries for a full day of culture and nature.
