Look Up Close to Tokyo Bay Area’s Landmark ‘Rainbow Bridge’ at “Daiba Park”, the Remains in the 1800s
“Daiba Park” (台場公園) is located on the cove of Tokyo Bay, and integrated with the popular tourist attraction Odaiba Seaside Park. It is said that the park is the nearest spot to Rainbow Bridge’. Actually, it was not allowed to enter for a while because of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. At this time when the spring breeze feels good, how about visiting the available park again and healed by the spectacular view along Tokyo Bay?
Daiba Park has square-shaped ground and looks like floating in the sea. Originally, it was used as a sea gun battery in the 1800s. In those days, Japan had been isolated from other nations, but Matthew Perry came to Japan to strongly demand the opening of Japan. Because of this, the Edo Shogunate (the Japanese government at that time) was afraid of foreign countries’ attacks and built a gun battery to protect their government. That’s why this park has the area as large as we can easily go around on foot.
It’s also one of the attractions that Rainbow Bridge is towering next to the park. You can take pictures of Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Bay and skyscrapers on the other side in one photo. The magnificent sight looks different in the early morning, at dusk and at night, so it might be a good idea to stop by several times during your trip.
By the way, there is also a mechanism where you can reproduce the artillery in AR using a smartphone. Take a look at the view of the 1800s in front of the modern scenery.
