Experience Japanese Autumn by Viewing Fall Scenery Reflected on The Pond! -”Takaragaike Park” with Magnificent Nature in Kyoto City

Many people enjoy leaf-peeping in temples and shrines in the Autumn in Kyoto, but this time we would like to introduce “Takaragaike Park”. Even though it’s a park, the ground has an overwhelming size of 62.9 hectares, and the great view of autumn leaves spread out in magnificent nature. In addition, the autumn leaves reflected on the pond are breathtakingly beautiful. It’s also a good point that we can access such a great view from an urban area by using the subway.

One of the Gozan no Okuribi ‘Myo'(妙) and ‘Hou'(法) is the summer tradition in Kyoto. “Takaragaike Park” has these 2 mountains with these characters on the premises. This park consists of 8 areas centering on “Takaragaike” which was made as a reservoir in the Edo period (1603-1868). There are many ways to enjoy it, such as the ‘Children’s Paradise’where various playground equipment is installed, and the ‘Ikoi no Mori'(憩いの森) where there are facilities for the Kyoto Prefectural Police Heian Cavalry. Furthermore, you can encounter rare animals such as mandarin ducks and Japanese raccoon dogs, which are said to be endangered species.

We can enjoy autumn leaves at this park in the coming season. Trees are gradually coloring yellow and red around every November. In particular, the autumn leaves that are reflected in the Takaragaike like a water mirror are amazing. The scenery that we can’t believe being in Kyoto makes us forget about time for a while.

There are benches around the pond, so you can spend a relaxing time. It’s also a good idea to do a picnic in warm clothes. It’s a must-visiting spot that you will be excited about the collaboration with fascinatingly beautiful autumn leaves and the pond.
