Enjoy the world wrapped in light! Three Christmas lights illuminate the night in Fukuoka.

In December, when the weather gets colder, Christmas lights begins to shine all over the city. When you see fantastic and beautiful illuminations, you can experience something out of the ordinary. In this issue, we will introduce three Christmas lights in Hakata. No matter who you visit with, family, friends, or lovers, you are sure to have a wonderful time. Canal City Winter Illuminations 2023

Canal City Winter Illuminations 2023 will be held at Canal City Hakata, a commercial facility directly connected to Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel. If you go from the hotel, you can enjoy gorgeous illuminations and events without getting wet even on rainy days. Illumination spots have been set up not only inside the hotel, but also in various locations, including the underground canal, so you can enjoy the illumination wherever you walk. The special water-based shows that will be held only until Christmas are a must-see. Don’t miss the aqua panorama show “CANAL XMAS DISCO,” featuring DJ Santa and the Christmas version of the classic fountain show held daily only during this season. The shows are free of charge, so find time to visit!

Christmas lights in Hakata, the City of Light

Christmas lights in Hakata, the City of Light will be held in front of Hakata Station. This is a spectacular event using 620,000 electric lights. The theme for 2023 is “Welcome Home,” and visitors will be able to pass through a gate of light and enter the city of Hakata. A Christmas market will be held until December 25, so you can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere as well as the illuminations. It is a good idea to enjoy the illumination with foods and a glass of drink from the Christmas market. If you want to take your time and enjoy taking pictures, it is recommended to visit after the December 25th, when the crowds at the Christmas market will be smaller.

Forest of Lights, Christmas lights in Acros Fukuoka

One of the largest Christmas lights in Kyushu. This is a fee-based event of Christmas lights held at the ACROS Fukuoka. The fee is 1,500 yen for adults and 800 yen for children. In 2023, under the theme of “Hikari no Mori,” illuminations will be placed in various locations, including the corridors, stairs, and rooftops of ACROS Fukuoka’s Step Garden. There are monuments of dinosaurs and animals, and a staircase that shines when touched. This is perfect for children and families. Passing through the Hikari Tunnel to the rooftop, visitors can enjoy not only a spectacular view of lights, but also a night view of the shimmering Tenjin area. Since the rooftop is usually open only until 4:00 p.m., the night view can be seen only at this event. Enjoy taking memorable photos with the beautiful night view and illuminations in the background.
