Rediscover Japanese sweets in Japanese mangas! “Japanese sweets and Manga” at Toraya Tokyo Midtown is happening right now
Toraya is one of Japan’s oldest Japanese sweets shops. At their Tokyo Midtown location, they are hosting a “Japanese sweets and Manga” exhibit which started on January 26th, 2024 and will run until June 26th. In the gallery, you can see things like scenes that depict the depth of Japanese sweets and panels that showcase creator’s appreciation for Wagashi (和菓子, Japanese sweets). It’s perfect for Wagashi and manga lovers.
“We want to share not only Japanese sweets, but Japanese culture.” This is the ideology of Toraya Tokyo Midtown. They host exhibits with different themes from time to time. They’ve had unique events focused on Wagashi replicas and chinaware for Wagashi. It provides a way to interact with Wagashi in ways apart from “eating”. It is a chance for you to realize the magnificence of Japanese traditions.
This event is their 49th one. You can see large, comic book-style objects, books flying through the air, and other unique displays. Enjoy the gallery as a piece of art itself, and immerse yourself in the world of Wagashi and manga.
