Denzaburo Fujita of the Fujita family was a prominent figure in Osaka during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Fujita family is at the forefront of the Fujita Tourism Group that runs the Washington Hotel, Hotel Gracery, and Hotel Tavinos hotels. Denzaburo Fujita owned a lot of land in Osaka, and he passed down this land to his three sons. Now, the land is home to parks and museums surrounded by greenery and water. Fujita’s eldest son inherited the land that currently houses the Fujita Museum. The Fujita Museum exhibits Denzaburo Fujita’s collections and is home to valuable pieces from Japan and other Asian countries. Many cultural artifacts were lost during the Meiji Restoration and wars. Denzaburo Fujita, a lover of the arts, slowly collected rare artifacts and decided to leave a space to showcase them. This passion was passed on and made the Fujita Museum what it is now. They have a special Japanese bowl called “Yohen-tenmoku Chawan” (曜変天目茶碗) which is a national treasure. It is displayed for limited periods, so be on the lookout if you’re a lover of the arts.

A state guest house surrounded by greenery: THE GARDEN ORIENTAL OSAKA. Feel Osaka’s storied history here.

THE GARDEN ORIENTAL OSAKA is around 3 acres and is now used as a wedding venue or for its restaurant. The land was passed down to the third son. It was scorched during a war, but it was redeveloped. The Osaka Reception House was built to welcome important foreign guests and host summits. Now, it is open to the public. Aren’t you curious to see a place that presidents and leaders have visited? A fall walk among red leaves. The Fujitas garden still lives in Old Fujita House Garden.

This Japanese garden was part of Denzaburo Fujita’s home. The old garden still remains there and is a designated important garden in Osaka. The designation applies to the northeast part of the park and not the whole park. The Japanese garden is surprisingly dynamic for the time period in which it was built. You can go view it for free, so go enjoy a nice, long walk in the fall air. The park has maple and gingko trees that turn in the fall. You can also see parts of the park from the Fujita Museum, and the 3 spots are within walking distance of each other. We recommend visiting all three on your trip.
