Asakusa’s famous event to finish off the year: Sensoji Toshi no Ichi
Every year, from December 17th to 19th, Asakusa holds an event called “Sensoji Toshi no Ichi” or “Hagoita Ichi”. Hagoita are paddles used in a traditional Japanese game. At this event, you can see traditional designs, but you can also see unique paddles with current celebrities, athletes, viral moments, and anime characters.
In 2024, many Japanese people made waves in the Olympics, sports, and entertainment. There will be many Hagoita that showcase the events of the year.
At Sensoji Toshi no Ichi, there will be Hagoita for sale, Hagoita exhibits, Japanese Taiko drum performances, photo ops with geishas, and other events. Be sure to check out the official website for details.
