Oyaku Garden is an herb garden that has its origins in the Muromachi Period (1336-1573). Long ago, it was a resort of sorts, and now, it is a spot to enjoy the changing of the seasons. At the start of summer, the trees turn vibrant green, and the surrounding waters and landscapes form a beautiful harmony. The view from the gazebos and bridges is like one from a painting. You can also see some historical architecture here. Since it is an herb garden, there are exhibits on herbs and plants as well. Where beautiful architecture meets history – Sazae Temple

Iimori Mountain is where the Byakkotai, an infamous group of teenage samurai, were laid to rest. It is a place with deep historical significance in this area. When you climb the mountain path, you arrive at a holy spot that sees many visitors even to this day. Sazae Temple, built in 1796, is found along the way. It is a wooden, helix building; it’s double-helix design is very unique. There is a sloped path on the inside, so you can go up and down without turning around. It is a mark of the innovation and skill of the Edo Period (1603-1868). Inside, it is filled with the soft scent of wood and soft sunlight. It feels somewhat magical. This spot is a must for architecture lovers and history buffs alike.
