Takao popular for mountain climbing and so on. Why not explore areas around Tachikawa in search of magnificent natural scenery?
This time, we’re going to introduce nature festivals held in areas around Tachikawa Washington Hotel.
“Yoshino-baigo Plum Festival” of Japanese plums coming to life again
Between late-February and late-March, Ome city brims with Japanese plums in full bloom, and a refreshing fragrance like spring drifts in the air. “Yoshino-baigo Plum Festival” will be held from 25th February to 25th March, so you can eat local dishes and attend events such as Japanese traditional dance Awa-Odori and local food fair while viewing cherry blossoms. In 2009, all Japanese plum trees around the venue were cut down because they were infected by a plant disease called Plum Pox Virus (PPV). After that, more than 4,000 new Japanese plum trees were planted to restore the original scenery, and the festival was held in March last year for the first time in three years. Many Japanese plums are blooming to bring sweet memories for everyone this year.

There will be various events and stage performances mainly on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays in the scenery surrounded by fresh greenery. Of course, don’t forget to climb Mt.
