The biggest festival in Yokohama “Tori-no-Ichi” held at Kotohira Otori Shrine
If you have a plan to visit Isezakicho in November, why not attend “Tori-no-Ichi” ? It will be held at Kotohira Otori Shrine. Among Tori-no-Ichi held in various places in Yokohama, Otori Shrine’s festival is said to be the biggest in Yokohama. On 8th November and 20th, the red torii are decorated with countless lanterns, and there are lots of stalls selling kumade (rake-shaped good luck amulets). In addition, you can enjoy eating around because back alleys with a nostalgic atmosphere is filled with food stalls.

The historical shopping district “Isezaki Mall” filled with old shops
Heading to Kannai station, you can find the shopping street “Isezaki Mall.” It’s well-known as a place where Japanese pop rock duo ‘Yuzu’ busked before they debuted. Stretching approximately 1.7 km, this shopping street has a long history since the Meiji period. How about getting souvenirs at shops established over 100 years ago?

The restaurant “Oota Nawa Noren” where gyu-nabe was first made
Old restaurants and stores dot around Isezaki Mall. 5 minutes’ walk from Isezaki Mall brings you to “Oota Nawa Noren,” at which gyu-nabe was born. It’s one of the few restaurants that has survived since the Meiji period. After grilling beef meats which are cut into lumps over the charcoal, dip them into the egg and miso and eat. Their special Miso makes for a rich flavor.
