Tamachi like that is a town close to Tokyo Tower and has modern cityscape unique to Tokyo thanks to corporate office buildings and universities gathering here. On the other hand, there are also lots of spots with a calm atmosphere created by canals and greenery, ones that have a long history since the Edo period and so on. 新芝運河沿緑地の景色(Scenery of Shinshiba Canal along green space)

This is a promenade along Shinshiba Canal that flows near Tamachi Station. When walking this street continuing from Takeshiba Bridge to Katori Bridge, you can find Shibaura’s symbol ‘Riverside Torio’ on the way. It’s statues of three people playing a trumpet, flute and saxophone famous as a photo spot. In addition, there is also a platform of TOKYO WATER TAXI which enables you to move to Tennouzu and Harumi from Tamachi by cruise, so it might be a good idea to hop on it when strolling the area surrounding Tamachi. “Atago Shrine” having prevented Tokyo from fire and disasters for over 400 years

愛宕神社の出世の石段(Success Steps of Atago Shrine)

“Atago Shrine” located on the top of Mt. Atago which is the highest mountain in Tokyo’s 23 wards. Following the order of Ieyasu Tokugawa, who made the Edo shogunate, it was built in 1603 as a shrine dedicated to the fire god to protect Edo (present-day Tokyo) from fire and disasters. It was destroyed twice by fire and air raids, and the current building was built in 1877. That is to say, this shrine keeps protecting Tokyo at the sacrifice of itself. In addition, it’s also famous as a spot used to be a meeting place for Mito feudal warriors during the Incident outside the Sakurada Gate. Speaking of Atago Shrine’s feature, ‘Success Steps’ which is steep stairs on the approach to the shrine is impressive. It’s said that going up these stairs will benefit your work and advance your career. Stepping into the precinct, you can find spots where gods related to love, money and business are enshrined. Let’s pray to god perfect to your wish!
