Have an elegant time by being fascinated by exquisite sweets using high-quality black beans! The old folk house cafe “Shiroikuro” in Azabujuban
Going out of Azabujuban Station at exit number four, you can find ‘Azabujuban Shopping Street’ where stone and brick pavement stretch. It’s a spot allowing visitors to enjoy eating and walking day and night while feeling an exotic and tasteful atmosphere. This time, we’re going to introduce “Shiroikuro”(しろいくろ, White and Black), an old folk house cafe quietly standing in the back alley of the shopping street.
This cafe’s main ingredient is black soybean from the Tamba area of Hyogo prefecture, which has a slightly sweet flavor like chestnut. From tea to sweets, all of them are developed by pastry chefs after years of effort and allow you to feel a rich taste of black soybean. In particular, “Shio-Kuromame Swiss Roll (塩黒豆ロールケーキ)” is must-eat. There are 2 types, ‘Shiro (white)’ and ‘Kuro (black),’ as the cafe name suggests.
Shiro’s white dough using lemon as a secret ingredient is stuffed with their original black soybean whipping cream with a salty taste. Even if sweets are not your cup of tea, you will love it thanks to its less sweetness. On the other hand, Kuro is sweeter than Shiro, so this is for sure the sort of taste that children also like.Black dough made with bamboo charcoal and black cocoa powder wraps plenty of their original cheese cream which goes well with salted black beans. In addition, salted black bean and red currant enhance the sweetness.
In a modern Japanese-style space designed by the owner, why not have a relaxing time for adults while savoring exquisite sweets?
