The Baumkuchen specialty shop ‘Sennen no Ki (せんねんの木)’ has been so popular that there are lines every day because TV programs and magazines feature this shop. The most essential ingredient of their Baumkuchen is ‘Princess Egg’ which is said to be the finest egg in Japan. It is a fresh one laid by young chickens from Kitagawa Chicken Farm, located in Sodegaura City, Chiba Prefecture, and makes doughs moist and fluffy. Among flavors such as matcha, tiramisu and mango yogurt that we can hardly find at other shops, “Toronama Chocolate (とろ生チョコ, meaning Melting Chocolate) is the most popular. It features two layers: chocolate mousse with a rich flavor and Baumkuchen baked by patissiers. Gold leaf is sprinkled on the outside coated with chocolate. The moment you take a bite, moist Baumkuchen, fluffy chocolate mousse and savory chocolate are mixed and melted on your tongue. By the way, you can enjoy it as an ice cake if freezing it.

Stepping into ‘Kiyomidai Cafe (清見台カフェ)’ whose appearance is like an old French-style house, you will be fascinated by adorable tart-like quiches lined up in a glass case. Their cakes and baked sweets that use plenty of eggs and fruits from Chiba prefecture are characterized by their high artistry that is particular about beauty. Especially, “Pure Custard Cream Puff (純正カスターシュー)” is so famous that all of them can be sold out in the morning. Cream puff shells have a crispy texture like a cookie. They’re filled with fresh cream and custard cream in an exquisite ratio of 1: 3. First, you can feel the slight saltiness of cream puff shells, and after that, 2 types of cream add a rich flavor and mellow sweetness to it.
