The trick art reminding you of your feelings in childhood is painted on the wall -“Ginza Washington”
When walking along ‘Ginza Suzuran-dori’ which is located next to Ginza Chuo-dori and closer to the Yurakucho area, you can see a girl with red shoes peeking a shoe store. To our surprise, this is a picture drawn on the outer wall of a shoe store “Ginza Washington” with over 80 years of history. Various stories may pop into your head, for example, the story that she wears pumps a little bigger than her feet because she longs to be a mature woman or something like that.

The building covered with glass blocks at Sukiyabashi intersection -“Ginza Maison Hermès”
Opened as Hermes’s first flagship store in Japan in 2001, “Ginza Maison Hermès” was designed by Italy’s leading architect ‘Renzo Piano.’ He is also one of the world’s greatest architects and has lots of achievements in designing famous architectures such as the pyramid-shaped skyscraper “Billshard London Bridge” and Kansai International Airport Terminal. The feature of this building is more than 10,000 glass blocks covering over the wall. All of them were made to order at a factory in Italy. It looks like they’re stacked from the bottom, in fact, most of them are hung from the ceiling to make it more earthquake resistant. In addition, it’s one of the best charms that you can feel completely different atmosphere between the daytime and night. During the daytime on a sunny day, the building reflects the sunlight and shines in silver. When it gets dark, it becomes a lantern that illuminates the surrounding spots by giving off the orange gentle light.

“Kojun Building” is located along Ginza Suzuran-dori Street. The old bricks that have gone through the years and its imposing classic structure look as if they tell about 90 years of history since 1929 (the year when it was built). Besides, Kojun Building is the home of ‘Kojunsha’, Japan’s oldest private club founded by Yukichi Fukuzawa.
