Built in 1876, “Kaiseizan Daijingu Shrine (開成山大神宮)” enshrines a deity of Ise Shrine that is a very famous sightseeing spot leading Mie prefecture. Thus, it’s called ‘Ise Shrine in Tohoku.’ Koriyama used to be a desolate land in the 1600s, but the Japanese government planned to cut mountains and cultivate fields of rice and other crops in the 1800s. When this big project was started, it’s said that there were constant conflicts due to differences in status among the participating farmers. Then, Kaiseizan Daijingu Shrine was built with the purpose of uniting people’s hearts and praying for the success of the project. In the spacious precincts, there are many highlights such as the worship hall built with Thujopsis from Aomori prefecture and the treasure hall where sacred treasures are stored. Especially, you should look at the main hall made of wood that was originally used for Ise Shrine. Having a solemn atmosphere and strong power, this shrine brings you good luck in matchmaking.
