Fluffy, Runny and Chewy! ‘Oyako-don’ allowing you to feel 3 types of textures at once -”Iseroku” with 70 years of history
Kanda in Tokyo Prefecture has lots of offices and universities such as Nihon University and Meiji University. Maybe, due to the influence of this situation, Kanda is filled with eateries that offer authentic dishes reasonably. From among them, this time, we’re going to introduce a long-established Yakitori restaurant “Iseroku (伊勢ろく)” that has been loved for about 70 years.
The exterior of “Iseroku” tells us its long history. But, you can open the entrance door without hesitation even for the first time because of its heart-warm atmosphere.
Inside this restaurant, Japanese-style space using mainly dark brown wood spreads out. Some scratched furniture including walls and chairs produces a more long-established atmosphere. There are counter seats and table seats. If you visit here with a small number of people, you have better sit on counter seats where you can see the craftsmanship closely.
Their passion for chicken is exceptional. Since its opening, they have used Fukushima’s branded bird ‘Date Chicken’ which is raised free-range. They carefully select 4 to 5 months old females and carve them by themselves.
Our recommendation is “Oyako-don” (Chicken and egg bowl). It’s so popular that people visit here again and again. Opening a lid, the smell of broth with condensed chicken flavor comes drifting in the air. Chewy rice, golden soft-boiled egg and tender chicken have a great balance and look like an art piece. The sweet but spicy sauce called warishita produces a rich and deep taste. It seems that the sauce is made by simmering a whole chicken for more than 5 hours. All the materials are finished in the best condition by craftsmanship.
