Walk “Matsuchiyama Shoten Temple” with a History of About 1,400 Years while Seeing TOKYO SKYTREE®️
The temple of Sho Kannon Sect (聖観音宗) “Matsuchiyama Shoten Temple(待乳山聖天)” in Asakusa, enshrines Bishamonten(毘沙門天) which is one of the Asakusa famous place SHITIFUKUJIN(七福神, the seven gods of fortune). It is a small temple but has been a hidden power spot with a calm atmosphere and the spot where you can see TOKYO SKYTREE®️ from the precincts.
The temple is called “Matsuchiyama Shoten”, but officially it seems to be ‘Honryuin(本龍院). With ‘Hozan-ji Temple(commonly called Ikoma-Shoden)’ in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture and ‘Kangi-in Temple (commonly called Menuma Shoden)’ in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, it is a prestigious temple which is counted as one of the three main Shoten in Japan.
The symbol of the temple is Futamata Daikon(二股大根, two forks radish)’ and ‘Kinchaku( 巾着, purse bag)’. There are many images of them found in various places of the temple grounds, including the main hall. It is said that you can get the benefits by praying as below: Purse meaning prosperous business and Radish meaning marital harmony, matchmaking and prosperity of descendants. It is believed that the Buddhist deity gets rid of the people’s doubt, anger and poison by offering the radish. The energetic radish of the deity can also be taken home and cooked.
In addition, the temple is also a scenic spot where you can see TOKYO SKYTREE®️. The view from seeing the garden of the precinct is breathtaking. It allows you to take pictures of the collaboration with trees and the temples of the precinct. “Matsuchiyama Shoten Temple” is a calm space that is different from the lively Asakusa’s atmosphere. Why not enjoy taking a walk there?
