Kanto area is about to enter the rainy season. You don’t want to go out on a rainy day, don’t you? But, June is the best season for viewing ‘hydrangea.’ Hydrangeas getting wet with drizzling is so beautiful that you can feel refreshed and revitalized.

This time, we’re going to introduce 3 instagrammable spots filled with hydrangeas in Kanto area.

“Hakusan Shrine” where the same scenery as 1,070 years ago spreads out

There are lots of famous spots brimming seasonal flowers in Tokyo, such as Ueno Onshi Park and Hama-rikyu Gardens. Among them, “Hakusan Shrine” located in Bunkyo-ku is popular as a viewing spot for hydrangea. It’s one of Tokyo’s ten shrines along with Nezu Shrine which is famous for Senbon Torii, Shiba Daijingu with over a history of 1,00 years and so on. Built around 948, the old shrine is now popular with many people as a hydrangea shrine. ‘Bunkyo Hydrangea Festival‘ will be held from 8th June to 16th, so you can enjoy concerts and food stall-hopping while viewing about 3,000 colorful hydrangeas.

“Inamuragasaki Park” where you can see 4 superb views at once

Kamakura is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Kanagawa prefecture. When it gets June, historical temples and shrines brimming with hydrangeas attract lots of people, including Hase Temple and Meigetsuin Temple. If you visit Kamakura, why not take pictures of  hydrangea with Enoshima Island and the sea of Shonan together? From “Inamuragasaki Park,” you can see Enoshima Island, the sea and Mt. Fuji in addition to hydrangea. Gentle light of sunset changes this scenery to fantastic one, and you can be refreshed.

“Satte Gongendo Tsutsumi” brimming with the largest number of hydrangeas in Kanto area

‘Satte Gongendo Tsutsumi’ is popular viewing spots for hydrangea as well as cherry blossom, and many people visit here to see hydrangeas being in full bloom in June. It’s said that the number and variety of hydrangeas is the best in the Kanto area -100 types of 1,6000 hydrangeas. Please take a close look at each them because hydrangeas with different colors and shapes bloom. By the way, the most popular hydrangea is ‘Anabelle,’ whose about 1cm petals produce clusters of white flowers. Anabelle covering the park looks like pure white snow.
