“Yamato Museum” to learn the importance of peace and the history of Japanese science and technology
The history science museum “Yamato Museum” introduces the history of Kure city which was flourished as Japan’s largest naval port and science and technology of shipbuilding and steelmaking that led Japan’s modernization after the war. There are actual fighter planes and artillery shells that were used during the war, and they get you thinking about the importance of peace. In particular, the one-tenth scale model of the battleship Yamato duplicated as accurately as possible will catch your eyes. Despite being a scaled version, the ship with the entire length of 26.3m is impressive. For little children, we recommend that they join workshops and science shows held on weekends to learn about the structure of ships and the nature of waves. In addition, don’t forget to look at a submarine and a battleship that are exhibited around the Kure port where large ships come and go.
