SHOYEIDO has produced various incense such as incense sticks and pastille in Kyoto since its founding in 1705. It’s a 3-minute walk from Marutamachi Station as well as near the Kyoto Imperial Palace. When you enter the room, you can see white boxes suspended from the ceiling. The 3 boxes are called “Kaori BOX” (scent boxes) and are filled with different fragrances. Please experience the different scents while putting your head in the box boldly. In addition, the poles with fragrances installed trumpet allows you to enjoy them which are the raw material of incense by pressing the pump at hand. It’s a good point that both exhibitions look quite humorous and photogenic. There are also spaces where you can learn how to use incense and the manufacturing process of incense sticks.
