Right next to Yasaka Pagoda! Artisan bakery COQUELICOT BLANC brings artistic bread to old Kyoto

Yasaka Pagoda is beloved by the people of Kyoto, and many tourists from all over the world come to visit it. COQUELICOT BLANC is located on the path to the pagoda, and it is always full of customers looking for beautiful croissants. In December 2023, it opened as a sister store to COQUELICOT ROUGE in Mie Prefecture. It’s been Kyoto’s new Insta-worthy spot ever since.

The shop looks like a traditional Japanese house. One step inside and you’ll see colorful pieces of bread lined up like works of art. The most popular item is their “bicolor croissant” with beautiful layers of color. Not only is the outer layer beautiful, but the marbled colors inside are a work of art as well. You won’t be able to shut up about it! Of course, they take pride in the colors, but the ingredients are carefully selected, too. The sweet standard batter, the tart fruit batter, the slightly bitter matcha green tea batter. You can enjoy a beautiful blend of flavors.
