Make your own refreshing plum wine for a hot summer day ♪ CHOYA Ume Specialty Shop
CHOYA Ume Specialty Shop is a 7-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station on the Kyoto Shiei Karasuma Subway Line and near Nishiki Market in Kyoto. It is a plum specialty shop run by a well-known Japanese company called Choya Umeshu. You choose your favorite plums, sugars, and sake to put together your own original plum wine or plum syrup.
There are 100 different combinations you can make! At the “plum experience” booth, there are plums hand-selected by Choya, different types of sugars, and different types of alcohol like vodka or gin. Just imagining how your creation will turn out will make you excited. The Ume concierge is well-versed in the plums and alcohols and are there to support you. So, if you don’t know where to start, you can let them know what flavors you like and go from there.
After you make the wine, you’ll want to take a nice swig… but you can’t because you have to wait a few weeks before you can taste your plum wine. This shop sells drinks made with Ume, so enjoy a drink here and take home the one you created.
