Learn all about the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival at Kishiwada Danjiri Hall

This place features the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival. They have life-sized displays of the floats and footage showcasing the floats, too. The Danjiri Festival is all about movement, so you can’t focus too much on the floats themselves, but the floats are carved delicately out of wood and worth seeing. The hall has the oldest float in Kishiwada and you can see it up close. There are also areas where you can get on top of one of the floats or strike Japanese drums. You’ll learn the history of the festival, how the Danjiri Festival came to be, and the passion of the people that continued to carry the tradition to present day. It’s open during festival season, so come by whenever you want to feel the excitement of the festival.

Kishiki Shrine was where the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival was born. Get good fortune with the red and white “Chigiri-ito”

The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival started around 300 years ago. It is said to originate from a festival held at Kishiki Shrine within the Kishiwada Castle grounds. Because of this, Kishiki Shrine is an important spot in the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival. Since Kishiwada Castle looks like a part on a weaving machine called a “Chikiri” in Japanese, it used to be called the Chikiri Castle. Playing off of this nickname, Kishiki Shrine is believed to be good luck for weaving together romantic relationships. Those who want some of this good fortune should get Chigiri-ito (ちぎり糸) which are red and white threads and tie them in a certain spot in the shrine. If you’re here for the festival, come make a wish here at Kishiki Shrine.
