The beloved dessert shop, Takemura, is located in Tokyo. They have been passing down their traditional flavors since it was founded in 1930. The building is a reg”istered cultural property in Japan. The shop appeared in a popular Japanese drama from 2024 called “Tora ni Tsubasa” and became even more popular because of it. Their signature dessert is the “Age Manju” (揚げまんじゅう). The Age Manju is a fried bun filled with red bean. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it is delicately sweet. The shop also has other delicious, traditional Japanese desserts that make you feel nostalgic even if you aren’t from the time. Photos aren’t allowed inside. You’ll feel like you took a step back in time when you see the wooden interior and the desserts.
